Defending

The other day I was telling my girlfriend on the phone about Mark (who is Evan's biological father). After that conversation Evan and I  have one:
E: Mommy, that's not nice because that will break Mark's heart.
M: (underneath my breath) If only you knew what this man has done you would not say that. (outloud I said) Yes Evan that isn't nice and that may break his heart.
